Thank you Leslie McGrath!

Posted by pottingshedpoet on February 19, 2010

Leslie’s reading at pi-New Haven last night was delicious.  For those of you who missed it, Leslie read primarly from her collection Opulent Hunger, Opulent Rage available from Main Street Rag Press. From Soda Bread and Hot Chocolate to Succotash, her richly sensual poems definitely left us hungering for more. She’s heading up to the WordForge Reading Series in Hartford on Monday, April 5.  I highly recommend checking it out.

Her reading followed another great open mic.  Thank you everyone who joined us for the evening’s reading.  Our audience totalled over 24 and most of you decided to share a poem with us — although it’s not required of course!  It was a night for Favorite Poems and translations.  (Yes, we encourage the reader to read it in both languages if you are talented enough to do so). A few callouts (and sorry if I miss anyone here) — Alice-Anne, We love the red! Welcome back Herschel! We missed you.  Welcome Kathy, Rob, Colin and Deborah (and everyone else who joined us for the first time).  We hope you will all join us at pi-New Haven again next month.   – Eli

January 2010 Feature (Update)

Posted by poetryinstitute on February 1, 2010

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our January Open Mic and Feature Reading.  What a night!  Over 35 guests enjoyed the poetry of our first feature of 2010,  Elizabeth Marie Young who demonstrated just how unique and wonderful her writing is.  She wrote to Mark this week, commenting, “I’ve been spreading the word about the series.  It was one of the most enjoyable readings I’ve ever given!  I really had a great time.”  Thanks to Alice-Anne for her energetic hosting abilities.  It was a great kickoff to what looks to be a wonderful year of poetry.
